I am about to break my 3-year-old niece's heart by selling my copy of
Xtreme Beach Volleyball (which she calls "the hopping game" before it loses its value. She is the only one left who still plays it when she comes to visit. First, I am hoping to mitigate the psychological damage
I am going to inflict on her by seeing if there aren't other games she might like.

She's very bright and can even play ATV Off-Road Fury 2 well on my PS2.
At home, her dad says she loves Banjo-Kazooie on their Nintendo. Any suggestions?

How about Ape Escape 2? I'm 32 and I loved it, but it's a friendly game where it's easy to figure out what's going on, so it seems like it might also appeal to young children.

Shrek looks cute. I've never played it though.
If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.

not sure about titles on the xbox, kid freindly platformers is not an area that it has an abundance of games.

the ps2 has numerous good platformers that she could get into.

try sly cooper or jak and daxter, those would be good starting places...

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - she'll love it.
When I hear somebody sigh, 'Life is hard,' I am always tempted to ask, 'Compared to what?'

Along the line of Jak and Dexter is Ratchet and Clank. Same sort of platformer, cuter fuzzier characters but watch out, they use flamethrowers and weapons. Not exactly bloody, it reminds me of goofy violence like throwing turtleshells in mario. Still, game is rated teen for mild cartoon violence. (Review: http://ps2.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r20161.htm )

She might like Herdy Gerdy, rated everyone. Gameplay involves herding cute litty fuzzies with the help of a big pink thing that looks like it came from Monsters Inc. Cell shaded, looks neat. (Review: http://ps2.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r17270.htm ) No violence whatsoever. This one's probably your best bet.

The Rayman series is very fun, but I wonder about the frustration a little one might feel because of the jumping puzzles.

Sly Cooper? Mild violence here too but it's also rated everyone. I played the demo at a store and the worst violence I saw was someone going poof after I whacked him with a stick. Didn't seem to objectionable or frustrating. Loved the cartoony graphics.

How the hell does a 3 year old get her hands around a X-box controller!!!?!!???
Talent alone won't make you a success. Neither will being in the right place at the right time, unless you are ready. The most important question is: 'Are you ready?'
