I hope some animal never bores a hole in my head and lays its eggs in my brain, because later you might think you're having a good idea but it's just eggs hatching.

Why is it that you physicists always require so much expensive equipment? Now the Department of Mathematics requires nothing but money for paper, pencils, and erasers...and the Department of Philosophy is better still. It doesn't even ask for erasers.

How much did it run you at Fryes?
One of the surest evidences of friendship that one individual can display to another is telling him gently of a fault. If any other can excel it, it is listening to such a disclosure with gratitude, and amending the error.

While some may see it differently a computer witch has a video card with video out (or TV out) can be hooked up to just about any modern TV. This is just a standard-defintion connection, it couldn't take advantage of the high-defintion (HD) capability of your friend's TV.

A few video cards have high definition component video outputs which allow them to use the higher resolutions supported by HD capable TVs.
Some HD capable TVs have DVI inputs that should in theory allow them to be respectively connected to any video card with a DVI output. Some HD capable
TVs might even have standard VGA input connetors.
I never once made a discovery ... I speak without exaggeration that I have constructed three thousand different theories in connection with the electric light. Yet in only two cases did my experiments prove the truth of my theory.

For instance i've the Apple 22 inch Cinematic and it is amazing and expensive. Yes I said Apple incomes with a converter to pc and works with high end ati and nvdia cards. It is unbelievable. There is a 23 inch which costs a thousand dollars more but the 22 was enough for me. If you haven't seen one you should at least check it out . I got mine at Fryes.

(that is interpixel "swimming" and very hard to see). Still, it's much better then CRT most monitors in terms of the clarity of text and images. I can actually read some text at the default size at
1280X1024, whereas it's impossible for me to read regular text even at
1024X768 on an average CRT.

Ghosting can be avoided by annually having a videocard with a good DAC.

The main benefit to DVI is that the colors and contrast will usually be correct and not require calibration, whereas colors can theoretically differ on an analog display.

Of course I work with Apple's Cinema displays every single day. In terms of image quality and sharpness, they're excellent. However, they have _awful_ repsonse times. How can you possibly recommend them in a keenly gaming LCD thread? They're atrocious for games.

We've come a long way. I remember when 23" CRTs were $2000. Not that long ago!

I've a TV with an RGB connector but it isnt HD. It's actually quite an old TV and is made in Gemrany by Teletech using a 27" Toshiba FS tube. While some may see it differently i've never recklessly tried hooking it up to my video card though but will test it out one of these days.
