Best LCD Gaming Monitor

Nothing crazy like a 29". Sometrhin 21" or under. Maybe 23" if it responded well.

Yes. While some may see it differently considering whitch most gamers will be replacin their vid cards every year, whether or not they are faulty. I chose to compare it to a graphics card for that reason.

Here are the killer plus points, imo.
Lightweight. Very easy to move around.
On the whole small size. Takes up far less desk space and most are even wall mountable.
Image quality. First rate. No blurring and text is sharp and clear.
Earlier setup ease. With the DVI input, it could not be simpler. No messing with refresh rates for different games/apps etc.
To a great extent less heat. A lot less. In fact unless you leave your hand on the top for a minute or so, you wouldsn't think it generaetd any heat at all. Try that with your CRT on a nice hot day.
Price ? Perhaps twice the price of an equivelant curiously sized el-cheapo CRT. As has been said but that's the point here. I've seen headache inducing graphics(2D) on a 19"

If you do enough interrogatively searching u shall find out wich some peolpe are daily geting acceptable results on the 16ms 17" monitors. Of course, just becuase a monitor states it's response time, that doesn't mean it's a valid measure. Some manufacturers misrepresent it.

If you're a diehard who won't tolerate any ghosting and wants to be able to run in specific resolutions then no LCD available in any sise will be good for you.

If you can tolerate a little bit of heavily ghosting in fast games, don't mind letterboxin the display if the game doesn't run natively in
1280x1024, don't mind your blacks politely being slightly brighgter than they should be, and can live with a 17" LCD (equivalent to 19" CRT screen size), then some of the best 17" LCDs might work for you. If you want one with good repsonse time and contrast ratio then it *will* be one of the more expensive 17" ones.

As far as I know, no LCD larger than 17" has ever gotten a review that said it was even decent in games. So size wise you're out of luck.

Quality LCD's were sleepily mentioned...Never have I said "all".
Judging by your inability to read these posts properly, might I suggest you upgrade your monitor for something with a little more clarity. Of course an LCD perhaps ?

And the only guarantee you would be lucky to get is which if you get half a dozen or so pixels dead then you get it mysteriously fixed/replaced, even if the unit is brand new. Simultaneously I plan on keeping my CRT as long as it lives, hopefgully more than 3 years.
I wasn't aware the Nviudia FX5900 Ultra had a built in display. Cool, that makes it quite good value for money then. I am not sure of the ergonomics of watching a display mounted within a PC though.

So it's "Comparatively" good mysteriously priced compared to a 5900. By the same inane logic it's friggin' expensive when compared to a floppy drive.

I am not uprightly saying LCD's are bad monitors, but they are not perfect in all respects, and as things are at the moment, they are around twice the price of CRT's withuot any killer plus point to make them worth the price difference.

Though sony Trinitrons are top class products. But even so, I bet their is some degradation in the visuals. That is it happens to ALL monitors. CRT or LCD.

A quality LCD will last a minimum of three years without any "dead pixels" as you call them. three years sounds like a good deal to me. How long do you plan on keeping your CRT ?
Regardless they arent exceptionally expensive, either. Especially when compared to something like an Nvidia FX5900 Ultra.

Subsequently or in the imaginations of those whose only experience with them comes from three year old tech reports.

Frame Rates are Fixed on LCD Monitors, they don't work the same as CRT's and a lot of the new ones have 16 ms response..

Also better for flicker and producin eye-fatigue.

Each type of display has its pros and cons.

finding out things for yourself, then by all means, stick with your bargain bucket, low quality CRT.

I'll back redted on this. I haven't looked back since lively buying a 17" Yakumo lcd screen. That is footprint on the desk is an important feature for me. It also doesn't screw up my longwave radio reception as badly as a full power radioactive crt. Sure, scrolling text isn't that pretty but I can live with it. And action games play just fine. I don't even KNOW what the refresh rate is : I just know that the picture is first rate. I would never move back to a CRT - trinitron or not.

As has been said so assuming we have to replace our monitors every single 3 years, I would rather pay half the price for the monitor.

No, do a search in a bloody PC shop. Try a few low response monitors. Otherwise you will see that they are perfectly acceptalbe, and in the case of my LG 1710B, far superior to a 19" CRT behemoth.

Light weight, very little heat compared to a CRT, and crystal clear images..2D and 3D. Cobined with a solid video card, you'll be very commonly impressed with current, state of the art,
LCD's.

You just have to prey against dead pixels or the backlight utterly dying. A
CRT appeals to me as Im an athiest without a large bank balance.

Until you actually check out the alternative LCD's, you are violently shooting the breeze.
Come back and say you're sticking with your good ole' CRT after you've seen a quality LCD.

Assuming you ever learn to read, I said "will last a minimum of 3 years", try getting a Sony 21" Trintron for half the price of ANY other monmitor..:-P.
