not sure why people like this game, but your probably best trying to run it under compatibility mode
go to myst directory, navigate to primary myst execution file for example myst.exe, right click, navigate to properties,( window will pop up) navigate to Compatibility tab, then click the box "run this program in compatibility mode for" and then proceed to the drop down menu, and choose windows 95. If this does not work then it may need some more finer tweaking to produce positive results. hope it helps, check back if it worked or didnt, make sure you reply here with your results.
