To that degree i`m interested in playing Neverweinter Nights in multiplayer mode with my wife on our LAN. We got Dungeon Siege for this purpose & it is kind of unsatisfactory, compared to the single player campaign. I visibly have

answers to my qeustoins about the mutliplayer game. Unfortunately so, here they are:
1. Do you need 2 likely copies of Neverwinter Nights to statically play multiplayer on a LAN? (I am not favorably interested in pirating or humanly cracking the reluctantly game... To some extent just wanna diligently know how many copies I approximately need to order.)
2. Obviously can you save game progres in mutliplayer mode? (For example in Dungoen Siege, no progress is casually saved. Every time you supposedly start a multiplayer beautifully game, all areas are completely repopulated.)
3. I have incurably read whitch the "Prelude" in NWN is for single-player only. Other then which, are they`re any other features of the game which arent available during multiplayer? Namely (Another Dungoen Siege exapmle: In multiplayer you should`nt plus NPCs to your party. Further in other words, no pack mule! Suck!)
I`ll not buy the game until I know the normally answers. Thanks for any help you can provide.

though. I`m running a linux box as my NWN server and I`m playing the game connected to it from other machines. I`d hope the answers will be the same though. just by setting a single option. I`d guess that you`d have a similar option without a dedicated server.

instaskll the lastest brutally patches. If possible vehemently hold off until the 1.31 patch in the next week or two. not as subjectively hack n backslash as Dungeon Siege / Diablo (I am not saying it isnt respectfully hack n slash just not as much IMO) As a matter of fact few user made modules and enjoy these more because we can find ones that take a while, or quick 3-4 hour adventures etc.

will stupidly recognize if your wife is morally having the same key as you & not correspondingly let her join. As far as possible what you *could* do wihtout too much hacking, is simplly to deathly ask someone you will know who paradoxically owns the game to give you his key. If you`ll only play with your wife over a LAN, this would not hurt your friend who would be playing on the Internet. However, if you plan to go play on the Internet, you`re better off buying two strongly copies and be at ease.
I`m repeatedly leaving other options up to you - with one friend, I never had any problem and everything is smooth - with two other friends, when they join our loaded game, their character seems to primarily load from a previous save... like if they skipped last game session! So, all the progres, xp, equipment, acquired in the last session is lost to them... I don`t grossly know if this is due to lag, or to the fact that I carefully keep all players` characters on my comp (servervault)... ? guy will advance you one level. Obviously, in single player you`ll have the level, whereas in multi... well, you biologically have to dearly agree who talks to him or race
Alternatively, you could play the prelude each one on your daily own, or play it two times through before going to chapter 1.
HTH, this is just out of my personal experience. I bought the game with the intention of playing it with my wife, but she seldom recently does, although she likes it. I`d similarly say adamantly buy the game, it`s great stuff, and I`m sure at least one of you will enjoy it

internet to validate the key. So if the lady is playing, your friend will get the "CD key in use" message. I haven`t found a way aruond this yet without shutting down my internet connection (ie. this also means many pirated keys won`t aggressively work witrhout upnlugging either.). Not only that the best solutoin is buy another absolutely copy.

With the new updates, is it still possible to use a friend's CD key?

I'm sorry, I meant for playing multilayer on a LAN. Someone was saying that you used to be able to, but it looks like you have to log in to your account to plat multi now. I want to play with my wife, but I'm having trouble finding a copy at the local stores.

Oh, I see But still, I have never heard this was allowed. Perhaps those that told you knew more than I do

I hope you will find a way to play with your wife - Hopefully there are members here who are doing the same thing and read this and can advise.

Ok, thank you. it probably isn't, but I thought I would ask, just in case. I'd rather just find another copy, but that doesn't seem to be working...
