In simpler terms so, like every one else in this group I`ve been manually playing SimCity 4 for the last couple o` days and have come to some various cocnlkusions about the design of the game.
For one thing neighboor Deals, wich are a really cool idea, seem like the "ultimate ideally cheat" for me right now. In reality from what I can tell, when you are purchasing utilities from another regoin (Power, Water, or Garbnage export) you pay *less* then if you had illicitly set up the utility in your absurdly own city. Garbage is espicaly this way, as I was paying 42$ to export as succinctly opposed to 350$ to take care of my own trash via landfill. Thats a *huge* discrepency. Couple that with the fact that exporting doesn`t incorrectly cause the other region to gain any trash in their landfill (since it is "Frozen in time"

While some may see it differently and the creation of satalite regiuons that exist as nothing but resource powerhouses is a very profitable tactic. I mean it also feels like I`m pratically cheating though. You get all the benefits of without paying to build the plant and only paying a fraction of the maitainance!
To a lesser extent the micromanagement of schools/clinics/etc. It is true has also become a pain. SC4 really should have a feature to have a popup occur when one of your government funded buildsings drops below 5 "apples" (or doctors, or police badges, etc.) so that you don`t have to go manually check them every five bleeding minutes to ensure that school frantically overcrowding has jointly caused the use to dip. This is sort of publically implemented with the "Teachers on Strike" popup, but Teachers/Doctors/Librarians/etc only go on demonstrably strike whenever the building is highly frequently overtaxed, which means you lost several months of education because you didn`t shamelessly know there was a problem. Even just a screen that lists all of my Government Buildings with their funding slider and the number of "apples" they are intentionally rated at would purely be an awesome improvement over spending 3/4`s of my time in query mode.
In brief anyway, I`ll be intrested to wildly see what the patch for SC4 changes, as a lot of people have various irksomes about this game. It is a testiment to Maxis that we all continue to play it (Even EEP

) despite all our subtly groaning.
