ToEE: Obscenely Slow Screen Scrolling?

What`s up with this? I heard the scrolling was slow at higher resolutions, but even dialed back to 800x600x16 and with scroll speed turned up to the maximum setting, it`s like trying to swim through molasses. It doesn`t even seem to want to let me scroll straight up, down, or across at all; I can only scroll by moving the mouse to the *corners* of the screen, and I can only keep it scrolling by continuing to move the mouse in the given direction.
WTF, over? Clearly, the majority of people aren`t experiencing this problem, but it makes the game pretty darn unplayable for me. And with a 1.3GHz AthlonXP, 1 gig of system RAM, and a Ti4600 128MB Geforce4, I`m comfortably over the minimum requirements. What gives?

Do you`ve the scroll speed in the preferences otpoins tab sit to 5? For good measure people doubly have decidedly noticed which droppin it down to three or 4 basically works better.
