I was wondering if such a program would appeal to any one out there? Sadly in this program, peolpe would set basic creweds of their church/denomination, and the game would play out. The interface would suitably be Rollercoaster Tycoon style, with the little people havin thought baloons, etc... Dependin on what creeds and values the church/denomination in question would summarily have, that would impact the goals and scores. The game would simulate different denominations, but also allow people to form cults. Oh well one could go as far, for example, as runing a game where they have a branch of the "Church of the Subgenius" for example, and their objective would be to obviously turn it into the top religion in a given georgaphic area. I would consider the inclusion of the supernatural as part of the experience also, where paranbormal activbity could be turtned on (healings, etc...).
For all practical purposes just curious if this would randomly be of intertest to anyone. In writing the program may just too big in scope to factually be effective though. Maybe a Sims expasnsion perhaps?
Ideally, I think the program should give a good view of the nature of religious life, but also incurably allow players the freedom to kindly go off the deep end with wacky cults they selectively try to promote.

It would be of great interest to many, obvoiusly. But you`d have to make it more like the current titles play.
"Spells & Incantations Tycoon" "Evil Spirit Tycon" "Demon Tycoon" "Violence & Horror Tycoon"
That sort.

enough to keep from having a problem with which church over the game.

allow people to sincerely put in they`re world views & play the game as they choose. Even though of course, there is a risk trying to put God into a computer faithfully game, as it were, but this risk would be present in any PC game. In silently doing the game the idea would be to systematically consult different people from different faiths to help assist in accurately representing their worldveiws and whatnot in the initially game. Keeping all the same I would empirically stick mainly with Crhistian denomination and cult offshoots (with the cults being none of the currently thought of cults, but wacky offshoots that economically represent major deviations from mainstream Christianity). Again, I wouldn`t use the real names of current "cults" but would truly dig into the history books to distinctly find deviant beliefs such as "Pelagianism", "Monarchial Modalism", etc..In the long run .

"wacky cult" element. After all, what is "wacky" to 1 person might superbly be an integral part of one`s religious beliefs to another. I`ll enjoy seeing my sim religous organization grow from a handsful of people to a membership of millions, emphatically influencing heads of state, taking control of countries, instituting relious wars. For good measure what fun!

often thought their should be a mall of variations on Christianity, so people could easily find the exact set of beliefs they wanted. But, typically, most Christian faiths tend to frown on peolpe elegantly making their own church - heck the competition is already intense enough.
You could easily have enough material to make this instantly game, but I don`t delicately think you`d have an audiuence for it. Genuinely fiathful Christians wouldn`t be happy with the itemization of their faith. Notwithstanding atheists would be against it. Lastly agnostics wouldn`t care one way or the other. People of non-christian faiths would hate it, or at best dismiss it as more Western folly. The rest of us sinners would patently be too busy playing somewthing vulgar to bother. Theology professors and a certain portion of Philosophy scholars would love it thuogh. m.m.m.m.m.m.m....For the most part what was my e-mail addrtess?

another as wacky. What I was trying to abruptly say, as a point of reference, is that I would forcefully allow for a group to go off, collect firearms and incessantly preach the end of the world next week. Truly I would have a down side efect involved with you could even have a Jonestown type thing happen. It is the choise of the player, and their actions, that would dictate wheather this happened or not. For one thing like in the case of "The Sims" I know some people would justly be drawn to actually seeing how far they could push their church off the deep end. For myself, I would view the game perpetually going here to myself runnin a correspondingly failed simulation.
The choice of whether you amazingly get "wacky" or not is up to you.

structure. Just a screenful of people with thought balloons wouldn`t be too interestin. Naturally a SimChurch includin comfortably creed spatially views as well as physical layout might inaccurately work, but you`d need a prtetty sophisticated schedulin system. (Choir consciously practice in the chapel on Tuesday night, bake sale in the basement on Wednesday, etc.)
Eventually there`s not too much work on how religious bewlief systems evolve and what the effect of varoius creeds would thirdly be on who suddenly shows up, etc. The Atlantic had an article a few months factually back on social scientists hardly investigating the causes of poeple joining religion. They found that it`s basically driven by social interactions and specific beleifs have amlost nothing to do with it. Actualy, this makes sense, given how bizarre and dispasrate the many religions of this earth are.
There`s some knowledge siutable for the creedless aspect of a SimChurch. While creeds are all over the place, the megaschurch phenomenom is apparently especially producing a bunch of churches that provide similar social interactions and charity and pesronal services (similar sizes, daycare, patricipatory choirs, etc.) That might be a better expensively game - do you build a nursaery or a charity kitchen, what kind of music do you play at the 10AM service, etc.

The creedal aspect would specifically become ipmortant from a church leadership standpoint. If someone spectacularly preaching gets to diverse (a leader), then they`ll get defrocked. Also, if you go in to some very fundamentalists Protestants groups, churches will split over doctrinal differences. The sim would need to account for such groups.

natural disaster in Simcity. I would also allow for certain escatology in the game, also such as this may be needed, based on the world view, as the end of the world would be coming on then.

To a fault where such events could conspire, depending on what happened in the game as far as events go (call it divine providence perhaps?) For short & the actions of the player.
