Problems With Medieval Total War

Are you having trouble playing Medieval Total War? Does the game load normally and the play screen opens up ok, but then, after about 5 minutes of playing, the window just closes and goes straight back to the desktop with no error message or anything?

First of all, are you still hearing the game sounds when this happens? If so, here some fixes that you can try:

1. Driver Update

Outdated drivers could cause this kind of issue.

You can try fixing this by either going to this website http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect or by simply going to Start Menu > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update > then click the “Check For Updates” button.

2. Compatibility Mode

If the first fix doesn’t work, try running the game in compatibility mode. You can do this by right-clicking the game shortcut / icon from your desktop. In the pop up menu, select “Properties” then go to the “Compatibility” tab. In the compatibility tab, tick the box saying “Run this program in compatibility mode for”, then choose the “Windows XP” option from the “drop-down box.” Then click “Apply/Ok” and try running the game again.

Please let me know if the problem persists.

  • Kevin: I’m currently having a problem with medieval total war were the game loads and is flickering. the menu works and everything but the second i try to start a game and the loading bar finishes loading the game plays the sound for entering the map and crashes. I’ve tried multiple compatibility modes and i have computer specs well above what is necessary to run this game the only problem i can think of is that my nvidia geforce gt 555m laptop video card is incompatible with medieval total war. I’m running an Intel core i7-2640m cpu at 2.80 ghz with 8 gbs of ram and a 64-bit operating system on a dell laptop. Do you know of any work around’s or possible solutions? I’ve searched the web and have found nothing on it simply because its such an old game and unsupported by Total War now.
